This Valentine’s Day we are celebrating our third birthday. It has been a very creative and productive period for us and we are constantly uplifted by the support you give us.

Not only do you deserve the best but you also inspire us to create better styles, patterns and materials so that you can look your vintage best every day.

To mark this milestone we’ve invited some of our lovely ladies to write about their dresses, how they use them and and magical moments they might have had in one.

This piece is by Carrie-Ann Cooper who has been buying Lady V since 2012...

My First Steps into Vintage Style

I’ve always been a fascinated by 1940s and 1950s fashion, and I discovered Lady V London when I was just beginning to feel brave enough to try it out for myself.

The first dress I bought was the Roxy Rocks in teal for a work event, and I fell in love with it as soon as it arrived. When I tried it on, I felt so confident that I thought ‘Yep, this is it - I’ve found my look’. I purchased the red poppy on white Tea Dress and the apricot floral Hepburn the following week and never looked back - I’ve not worn a pair of trousers since!

I loved the first one so much that it sparked a bit of an obsession (I haven’t counted them in a while, but I must have at least 30)!

Not only are Lady V London dresses super-flattering, they’re also great quality; they last longer than a dress purchased from the high-street, with the added bonus that you’re unlikely to walk into a party wearing exactly the same thing as someone else.

A Dress for Every Occasion

I have a few different dresses that I wear everyday (I have too many to justify only wearing them a couple of times, and am wearing the blue butterfly tea dress as I type this).

Some of the dresses are just too gorgeous to wear to work or running errands, so I save those for a special occasion, including the Rosanie in jade polka dot, which I bought in the Christmas sale and am saving for our anniversary in a few weeks.

I’ll quite often wear one during the day (for work, shopping or coffee with friends), then change into another one for the evening (drinks, dinner, dancing). The dresses are so versatile, I can (and do) wear them anywhere!

The magazine my boyfriend used to propose in December - dress is purple polka dot Roxy Rocks

My boyfriend and I got engaged just before Christmas, and I was wearing the purple polka dot Roxy Rocks dress when he proposed. Now every time I wear it, it reminds me of that wonderful day.

The Look Brings Rewards

I always receive lovely compliments when I wear my Lady V London dresses, and people will often ask me where they’re from (I’ve even written down the website a couple of times!).

While I love the tea dresses, Hepburns and Estellas (I discovered the fabulous Georgina, Fuller Figure, Fuller Bust through her collaboration with Lady V London - another reason to love the brand), the Roxy Rocks dresses are my favourite.

Not only do I have lovely memories attached to two of the dresses, but the deep v neckline, collar and ¾ sleeves flatter my figure, and they can easily be dressed up or down by adding a petticoat.

As for the future? Just keep doing what you’re doing - if it’s not broken, why fix it?!

All the best,

We really love Carrie-Ann’s passion for Lady V and are delighted to hear that one of our dresses brings back such happy memories.

Have you had a similar vintage moment? Is there a Lady V dress in your wardrobe that brings back some magic memories? If so, send us a note at and we’ll take it from there!
